The Highland Schools are committed to educating the children of our
community for America's future, protecting our schools from additional
and damaging budget reductions and sustaining the value of our
communities. Budget cutbacks and reductions in state funding threaten
their efforts to achieve these goals.
The Highland School District is on the ballot with a 6.9-mill, 10-year EMERGENCY levy for day-to-day school operations. The Schools have proven to be
financially accountable. The district has already made $2 million in
cuts. Per pupil costs are the lowest in Medina County and 20% below the
state average. Administrators have agreed to pay freezes and since 2006, we have saved over $2 million by changing the teachers' health insurance plan.
Every dollar of the Highland School levy is for classroom
instruction and programs. With it, we will have enough teachers,
instructional aides, textbooks, technology and programs to serve every
student. Without new revenue, education here will not survive at the
quality we need to prepare our children and protect the quality of life
in our communities and our investment in living here.
Vote For the Highland School issue on May 3rd. It's Critical for Education and Our Community.
